Vocabulary Words 4-30-12: Last blog!

As school comes to a end, I would like to reflect upon the past year. In the beginning of the year, all of the students were tremulous as they met their new teachers and prepared for the daunting year ahead. When everyone became used to the quotidian schedule, it was clear that each student became more intrepid. Throughout the year, massive amounts of schoolwork and studying did not allow me to work as a babysitter as much as I would like, so now I am impecunious when I go shopping. Even though everyone secretly hopes that the school will be razed to the ground, I will miss all of the teachers that I got to know this year.

Vocabulary Words 4-16-12: What is your favorite of the four books?

If I had to choose my favorite of the four books that we read, I would choose Little Bee. One of the best parts of this book is that Little Bee is impassive and almost haughty when she thinks of herself in America, yet has been through so much in her short life. Also, this book is not obsolete, as immigration continues to be an important issue with stringent regulations all around the world.

Vocabulary Words 4-9-12: What was your favorite book that you had to read for high school?

When I am being retrospective, I often look back on the books that I have read for high school and what I learned from them. I usually prefer books that do not have fatuous grandiloquence, but are simple and decorous. My favorite book that I have read for high school is Shakespeare's Midsummer Night's Dream. I enjoy the candor that is present in Shakespeare's works and appreciate writing as an art form.

Vocabulary Words 4-2-12: Why do you like the Hunger Games series?

Although Suzanne Collins is upbraided for the brutality of her novels, I find them excited and I believe that they are an interesting take on communism. From the very beginning Katniss is a winsome character that gains support from all readers. When she is subjected to abject humiliation and degradation during the Hunger Games, I felt the emotions that she felt and found myself lost in the story. One of my favorite parts was when Katniss stopped being quiescent in Mockingjay and became the rebel icon.

Vocabulary Words 3-26-12: What do you want to be when you grow up?

When I grow up, I want a career that seems very quixotic. I would like to be an actress or a writer for a comedic T.V. show. I would be able to expurgate scripts that were too offensive, and help find a panacea to boredom. However, a career in television is extremely difficult to obtain, and would require that I be obsequious in every job that I have.

Although the reputation of actors and actresses tends to depreciate over a period of time, my favorite actor is from the 70s. He starred in The Rocky Horror Picture Show as Dr. Frank-N-Furter, a film which was extremely efficacious- as it ended up having a cult. His name is Tim Curry and his greatness it immutable. My favorite actor that is popular in this decade is Johnny Depp. It is never precarious that he will perform well and he is extremely funny.

Vocabulary Words 3-12-12: What do you think of the open gradebook?

I think that the gradebook prevents students from beguiling their parents into thinking that they are doing better than they really are. Although some parents may make callous remarks about bad grades, the gradebook's good qualities overshadow its flaws. My parents know that I tell the truth to them, so they don't feel the need to look online to debunk what I have told them. However, the gradebook has been very helpful in motivating me to get better grades.
